Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA)
In our continuous effort to support individuals on their path to recovery, MyRehab Addiction Recovery Centre aims to highlight a spectrum of resources that cater to various challenges, including eating disorders. One notable resource that has been a beacon of hope and recovery for many is Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA).
About Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA)
Eating Disorders Anonymous is a fellowship established in 2000, inspired by the principles of Twelve-Step recovery programs. Its members come together to share experiences, strengths, and hopes, fostering an environment conducive to solving common problems associated with eating disorders and aiding others in their recovery journey.
Membership Simplified: Membership to EDA is open to anyone with a desire to recover from an eating disorder, whether current or past. It is grounded in the simple yet profound desire to achieve recovery and maintain it.
EDA operates on the principle of being self-supported through voluntary contributions, ensuring there are no financial barriers to entry for those seeking help. Importantly, EDA maintains its impartiality, not aligning with any specific sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution, and it does not engage in controversies.
The Core of EDA
The primary purpose of EDA is to assist its members in overcoming their eating disorders and to convey these messages of recovery to others battling similar struggles.
EDA emphasizes focusing on solutions rather than problems, advocating for responsible decision-making over dietary restrictions or weight management techniques. The goal is to find balance, not abstinence, enabling members to live without the constant preoccupation with food, weight, and body image.
Recovery and Empowerment: Recovery in EDA signifies a transformative journey back to self-trust, facilitated by developing self-honesty, self-care, and self-expression. This process nurtures authenticity, perspective, peace, and empowerment, steering members towards balanced living.
